Project Bolton Wild Child

These sessions are for participants that are in receipt of BENEFITS RELATED FREE SCHOOL MEALS.

Eligible Families were issued a unique number during summer that can be used again for the WINTER HAF.  This same number can be found on housing or council tax benefit letters too should they have mis-placed the original. YOU WILL NEED THIS WHEN BOOKING TO REDEEM YOUR FREE SESSION, if you are returning we may already have your number.

What’s On?

Friday 23rd December 10am-2pm – We will be focusing all things “Winter Solstice” celebrating the shortest day of the year! This will include making candle holders, we may dabble in a spot of candle making weather dependent, decorating a solstice altar, take part in mindfulness and gratitude to nature and winter crafts and more!

Thursday 5th January 10am -2pm – We have the great Russ from Nature Walks and Talks!  This time we will be looking at Winter wildlife walks, how does wild life survive winter, how to track animal footprints and work out what they are!

Friday 6th January 2023 10am-2pm – We have the amazing Lisa from Small Good Things who will be leading us in a group cooking sessions and making a hearty winter meal, exploring foods with a spot of wild play in-between!

Saturday 7th January 2023 10am-2pm – We will be focusing on wild fun, play, Forest School adventures, Fire lighting, den building, surviving the wilderness.

We hope to offer something wild, outdoors, and unique!

Each session is planned but can be tailored to support every individual need, whilst building confidence and a love for nature.

We take part in many varied activities and are flexible in our response to interests and other factors such as the weather.

We fully support the Forest School ethos which allows for individual discovery and exploration and child-led play, and in turn natural develop and improve physical development, overall health and well being improvement and the encouragement of healthy lifestyles.

We will be leading on a number of sessions but we also really value our local enterprises and what impact they can also make to the individuals.

This is our Wild Child sessions:

Every day in response to needs and interests, other activities may also include:

• Nature Play • Nature Art

• Nature Crafts eg weaving, macrame

• Leaning how to use tools

• Learning how to light fires

• Woodland games

• Den Building

• Tree Climbing

• Physical Workouts

• Hands on experiences

• Wildlife experiences

• Team Building Enriching Activities – Bushcraft Skills, Nature ID, Cooking on an open fire, seasonal growing, creative arts and crafts.

Food – Healthy pack lunches are provided

Physical Activities – Outdoor Physical games, and activities including hide and seek, woodland yoga, tree climbing, being in nature, mindfulness etc.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE

Please ensure you drop your child off in suitable outdoor warm winter clothing. 

Don’t have thermals don’t worry ensure they come with plenty of layers, a warm socks or a few layers of socks, a warm coat and waterproofs are ideal.
